PWCTW: People who change the world! Wohoooo. We are in a big big biiiiig transition phase. People from all over the world are playing a major key role in this big positive Change for humanity. I came across a guy named Dave Hakkens on Facebook who deserves more attention because of his love for community vibes and plastic things. He is a game changer and ‘activates’ other people to be game changers too with his campaign called Precious Plastic.
Fighting plastic waste together with ‘Precious Plastic’
Did you know that less than 10% of the plastic in this world is recycled? Scientists say that by the end of 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean. Solving this major problem is not an easy task, because the markets and capitalist system have to adjust (or fall ;P) first. unfortunately we still have a long way to go, for the industry to change. Recycling systems are still inefficient and really expensive. With this major environmental issues to be tackled we luckily have people – the grassroots – That are passionately working to make the changes they want to see in this world.
Dave Hakkens for example has always been fascinated by plastic and the way we can reduce the massive amounts of trash. He found a way to make his own recycling machine and shared the designs on his platform. His mission is to make working places available where people can recycle plastic and design beautiful things. People from all over the world are already working with Precious Plastic. Indonesia, Taiwan, Mexico, Spain to name a few countries.
