I have been travelling for 2 months now, and as a vegetarian I must say: it’s not always that easy when you are in Asia. To find vegetarian food is a journey on itself. I’m in Chiang Mai and I if you are a veggie foodie just like me, you might find your heaven on earth here. Here is why:
My eat pray love journey
I started my trip in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. Restaurants on every corner of the street, but not one single vegetarian restaurant we could find. In the beginning I was really excited that I could eat pho all day. Noodle soup is one of my favorite dishes, but my body was not ready for it. When I see my travel photos I see I lost some weight.
In Cambodia I mostly ate curries. It is the Indian influence you can taste. In Kampot and Sihanoukville it is very easy to get Western food and more diversity, since it is a touristy place. The first day we arrived in cambodia the water was already dripping out of our mouths. Pizza pizza! In Pnohm Penh we ate the most delicious mexican wraps. Look at tripadvisor for restaurants, or just walk and bump into it.
In Myanmar I ate a lot of noodles and Indian food. Vegetables like carrot, cumcumber, tomato. Not so many variety, but I really really loved it. Especially the indian food, known for it’s spices. In Myanmar the food can be really oily. So it can be hard to deal with it sometimes. And Myanmar people are used to eat 2 garlic stems a day by the way. So prepare youself. Good for the bloodpressure ey! 😉

shan noodles uit de Shan state , jummy. ❤️
In Inle Lake I got a emotional outburst because of the freshness of the vegetables. If you ever get the chance to go to Nuangshwe check: Pwe Tae Win. maybe 10 minutes outside the city: with bicycle. They grow vegetables behind the restaurant. So the food is really outstanding and fresh.

Eat pray, love in Chiang Mai
Now I am in Chiang Mai, Thailand and it feels like I am in a scene of Eat, Pray, Love. I ate tons of streetfood, went to temples to greet Buddha and uhm the love I haven’t found yet. What a relieve to have so much vegetarian options. Today I started with Pad Thai in a vegetarian restaurant called Juicy 4 you. Colourfull vibes with reggae tunes; my kind of heaven.

the juice menu is really on point. This is a juice with celery, apple, ginger and spirulina. Every juice has it’s own function., like detox, energy, skin.

golden buddha’s are everywhere.
